sun magicful homeHi, it's Veronika here!

Can you imagine a summer without sun tan lotion (or rather to say sunscreen - I mean the type where you protect yourself from UV rays)? I couldn't! I burn easily. But hey, even if you're tanned already or have naturally darker skin, sunscreen is a must and I hope everyone knows it. UV rays are going through a thinner ozone layer in present days, so we are bombed by an enormous amount of radiation - more than our ancestors were. They also usually covered themselves more than us, when we go to roast ourselves on the beach =)
But of course we know all of that from school and from our doctors, right?

But did you know that by protecting your skin by using sunscreen you can hurt corals? And ocean life?
No? How is that?

Let me tell you about oxybenzone & octinoxate and why to avoid them!

Hi, it's Veronika here!

I'd like to briefly share with you a video where I talk about cruelty-free certification from!

Here we go:

vegan design certified cruelty free

Hi, it's Veronika here!

Today I have amazing news for you. I've been vegan for a good few couples of years, but I wanted to take things further in my business and learn more. The more I know the more I can pass on. I decided to take a vegan design course to get a certificate provided by VeganDesign. I've learned a hefty amount of facts, both sad (such as current leather and fur industry practices) and inspiring (new exciting plant-based and man-made materials we can now use and completely forget using animals in the design/clothing/fashion industry).

What does it mean? Now I can "show-off" that Magicful Home products are really vegan and cruelty-free - simply as they were until now, so actually not much change here =)) But I learned a lot of useful things I can now use further in my home decor business adventure. And that's worth it!

kapok ceiba pentandra magicful homeHi, it's Veronika here!

I'll cut to the chase: For the sake of my Rainbow Sea Turtle Pillow Covers, I decided to find the best vegan and eco-friendly pillow inserts. As you may have read in my previous article, pillows - as much as they may look completely innocent - are actually pretty hard to make both vegan and eco-friendly at the same time.

UPDATE: Watch a video - how to stuff your pillow with kapok!

My pillow research led me to something called 'kapok tree fibers' - a soft padding around the seeds of a tropical tree called kapok or in Latin Ceiba Pentandra - with such lovely colourful flowers as you can see on the picture. And I must say, WOW! There really is an organic, unbleached, non-allergenic, natural, cruelty-free and sustainable alternative to down, cotton and polyester fibers - the three most common pillow stuffings.
